Watermelon Kool-Aid Play Dough Recipe and Activity

This summer has been really hot. Hotter than it has where we have lived for years. And there is something about the summer heat that totally brings out lazy Summer days, picnics, and watermelon vibes!! So if you are wanting to try out a fun Watermelon Kool-Aid Play Dough Recipe and Activity, then just keep reading below!!

Recently, we came across the Watermelon Kool-Aid Play Dough recipe that smells absolutely amazing. And has the cutest pink color to it.

Want to know how to make your own cute colored and yummy smelling Watermelon Kool-aid play dough?? Well here’s the deets:

We wanted to try a playdough recipe that didn’t have cream of tartar for those families that just wanted to use ingredients that they probably had on hand or teachers that legit want this for their class for tomorrow!!

After searching high and low for where we got this recipe originally from cannot be found. So please tag them in the comments below if you do know who shared it first!!



Now the ingredients that you will use for this Watermelon Koolaid Play Dough are:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 1/2 boiling water
  • 1 TBSP Oil
  • 1 Package of Watermelon Koolaid

The instructions are simple and easy enough to let your kiddos or students help!!

  1. Combine all ingredients into a large bowl.
  2. Mix ingredients until they form a ball
  3. Knead dough
  4. Enjoy and have fun making new play dough creations

If you want some of your play dough to be green for the Watermelon rind you can always take a piece out and add some green

It’s so simple right??

Now the next step of any play dough creation is to bring some learning into your play.

We created these simple Watermelon PLay Dough counting mats where you can either make a certain amount of watermelon slices or add so many seeds to your watermelon creation.

For the seeds, you can use a variety of play materials.

You can use:
-black pony beads
-dried black beans
-Watermelon seeds for planting
-Black Felt
-Pumpkin seeds painted black
