I absolutely adore Teacher Tipster; can you tell?? Well, another one of his tips that I have used for years in my classroom is the Ring the Bell Classroom management Strategy!! Whether you have a chatty class or not, there are some times where every class needs a reminder that their talking has become too much!!
I remember having days with my students where it seemed like the talking would just not stop!! So, I pulled out those service desk bells!
The rules to Ring the Bell are simple. There are three strikes are you’re out!!
If the students hear the bell ring it means that they need to stop talking and be quiet.
When you ring the bell for the first time, they know that it has gotten too loud in the class and they need to bring their volume down.
If you ring the bell again, 2nd strike, they again have gotten too loud and need to bring their volume down.
Now if you ring the bell again, 3rd strike, it means that the students have lost the privilege of talking and now need to be silent.
You can place a sign on your whiteboard at the front of the classroom that says, ”
The students will need to be quiet until you as the teacher take the sign down and tell them it’s okay to talk again!!
