Got the at home blues because you’re stuck at home again?! Check out this Minecraft Mother Son Date that you can’t quarantine without!!
I don’t know about where you live but we have shut down again!! Only the basic amenities are open and outside fun and entertainment again have been put at a standstill!!
Here at Pails of Love, we love to think outside the box and still create memorable opportunities to have with your kids to create that emotional connection and bond!!
Even if you are stuck at home with them 24/7!!
So, here’s the catch… we know that Minecraft can be geared to a lot of age levels!!
And normally we are all about that!!
However, for this specific Minecraft mother-son date, we encourage it to be a child who is school-aged and a fluent reader!!
The reason is that this Minecraft Mother Son Date will center around a virtual escape room!!
The Regency Park Branch Library in New Port Richey Florida is amazing!! They host a virtual online Minecraft-theme Escape Room that focuses on math and problem-solving skills!!
This resource is completely free!! And one of the absolute coolest finds when it comes to creating a different type of fun at home!!
Since you’re stuck at home anyway, you might as well spend more time together doing something your little man loves!!
To start off your date, we have included a Chocolate Chip Cut Out Cookie recipe!! This delicious recipe is from Chocolate Moosey. Paired with these adorable Minecraft Cookie Cutter shapes we found on Amazon, you can make your very own Minecraft Cookies!!
This Chocolate Chip Cookie Cut Out recipe works just like a sugar recipe does!! First, you’ll make the dough, roll it out, and then use your cookie cutters to make fantastic Minecraft shapes!!
We are positive that you will have almost all, if not all, of the ingredients needed for these delicious pixel inspired cookies!!
The only item that you might need are mini chocolate chips.
Starting off the Minecraft Mother-Son Date that you can’t quarantine without…
To invite our little man on this date I ended up going to the candy section of Dollar Tree to check out what they had!! I found some super cute individually wrapped Rolo candies that reminded me of the Minecraft gold!! So I grabbed a bag taped the invite to the front of it. Made little man’s bed and left it for him to find after his shower!!
He loved it!!
The next step, to start the night off you can first make the Minecraft chocolate chip cookies together. As the cookies are baking you can head to the website where the Minecraft Escape Room is found.
We recommend at least planning for 2 hours to complete this escape room!!
If you are escape room pros it probably won’t take you this long!!
But, if you are a beginner we encourage you to take your time to solve the problems together!! And truly talk!!
This activity is a great opportunity to work on problem solving skills and communication between the two of you.
As we were in the room together, we found it was nice to have time to just talk to one another and find opportunities to connect in talking through the clues.
It is sure to be a fun night!! We are curious to hear how long you guys take to get through the Minecraft escape room!! Let us know in the comments below!!
ps. just in case you are new around here we just wanted to explain what exactly you will find in our printable package!! Along with the invite and recipes you will find in the pack, you will also notice that there is a sheet of “stickers” to cut out and use for scrapbooking or journaling!! You will also find a journal page to write down the fun memories that you have together to add to your journals!!
