Feel like you’ve watched every movie under the sun?? Need some inspiration?? Check out this meaningful activity!! Dora and the Lost City of Gold Family Date Night Idea will help spread goodness and talk about growth mindset!!
The focus over here at Pails of Love is challenging our thoughts and trying to develop a stronger belief around growth mindset!!
And, we recently stumbled across a movie and idea that will do just that with Dora and the Lost City of Gold Family Date Night Idea!!
Did your kids grow up watching Dora the Explorer?? I remember my little cousin playing on the gymnastic bars shouting “Arriba!! Abajo!!” Over and over and over again!!
Let’s be honest I think all of us have experiences with backpack, map, Dora, Boots and Swiper whether we admit it or not!!
Well, my littles really wanted to watch Dora and the Lost City of Gold but I was a bit apprehensive because well… it looked like it was geared for teens and I was worried when I read the warning label of nudity…
Teen movie with nudity usually is because of intimate relations on screen…
So, I dismissed the idea. One that I regretted until I spent one night watching it alone!! And realizing the good that could come from the messages of this movie!!
And I was pleasantly surprised that the nudity wasn’t what I expected and that it wasn’t anything to worry about. It would be a total giggle-worthy scene for kids. (Think Shrek and his bum showing if you want some reference)
Like any movie we suggest, please do your own research!!
Check out Common Sense Media.
And watch the movie as an adult before showing the movie to your kids if you have any concerns. We want our Pails of Love Tribe to always feel safe, happy, loved, and have a great experience with the date ideas we suggest.
With that out of the way, lets talk about this movie and date night!!
The majority of the movie takes place in the jungle and so we thought it would be fun to really create a jungle-themed family night!!
The snacks that we thought of are all jungle-inspired!! Here is the menu:
Ack!! Don’t forget Boot’s Bananas!! We forgot to include that in our list but we have a food label for it!!
Okay, let’s decorate for family night!!
To decorate for the family night, start with a green tablecloth… We have a green cloth tablecloth but if you don’t just grab one from the dollar store!!
The next thought we had was to take crepe paper of light and dark green and twist them to hang from the roof to create jungle vines!!
The last decor step that we thought of was to have a jungle leaves banner. (Think those leaves above are cute?? You can find it in our printable!! We’ve got your back!!)
So set up that snack table and enjoy the movie!!
Oh, you thought we were done!! You’re so silly!!
We love the messages found in the move of Dora and the Lost City of Gold!! So rather, that just calling it a night there why not spend some time making inspirational rocks that you can hide around the neighborhood!!
Do you know the rocks we are talking about??
We found some in the summer, playing in the trees on a park date!! And it was magical!! The squeals of delight created so much magic and fun!!
This is a great opportunity to teach your family that we can spread positivity and happiness even in the smallest ways!!
Dora was an amazing example of this. Of staying true to who she is. And embracing her differences to help those around her!!
We can do the same with how we live our lives!!
If you want to create your own inspirational rocks, you can find the instructions both in our printable and right below!!
We hope that this simple, easy, and fun Dora and the Lost City of Gold Family Date Night idea will promote positivity in your home.
Also, we hope it helps create some discussion around growth mindset, embracing who we are and celebrating our differences!!
