Some of my most cherished memories that I absolutely adore are the times when my family has spent out in nature.
I have loved hearing my girls’ giggles and squeals of delight, and the boys’ hoot and hollers, as we fed the ducks in the bird sanctuary.
I have also loved watching Mr. Hottie sitting in the middle of the park’s path as geese have eaten right from his hands. I have joked that he should be called the animal whisperer because he just seems to have a knack with wild animals.
But what I have loved the most is being the silent observer and soaking in the delight on my family’s faces.
If you want a relatively cheap or free date why not head on over to your local pond and become friends with the ducks??
While we have this date suggested for Daddy Daughter duos; we believe that this date could really be any type of duo that wants to get out in nature and just enjoy being in the presence of one another.
Daddy Daughter Duck Date
Wild Act Conservationists are encouraging families to continue to feed wild ducks, geese, and swans bread and other healthy food items so that they are not dying off due to a lack of food.
Please check your local area for rules or suggestions around feeding waterfowl.
But did you know that you can also feed ducks a plethora of other food items that we eat as humans??
Found in our download you will not only find a duck invitation but also a recipe to make duck feed.
Now don’t you worry because I am sure you already have probably most, if not all, of these food items in your home.
Do you have any or all of the below??
- cooked rice
- old fashioned oats
- thawed vegetable mix of green beans, peas, carrots and corn
- cut-up grapes
- bread (sparingly)
See!! I’m sure you have a ton of these foods already in your fridge and cupboards.
You might also want to check your park or pond area for what looks like candy dispensers. At a lot of our local ponds you can find these dispensers that are full of specific bird food for the waterfowl in that area.
For this date we suggest having about an hour to spend together to not only just feed the ducks but take a walk around the lake or pond in your area.
We also strongly suggest bringing along a camera or having your phone charged to capture these moments!! The look on your family member’s face will truly be worth it.
Don’t forget the bug repellent and bring some of your own treats to munch on.
